Straight from the Red Carpet: Oscar Jewelry 2014
Award season is always an exciting way to jumpstart a new year! Not only does it provide a platform to showcase the best movies of the last year, but it also sets the fashion trends in place for remainder of the year. The Oscars red carpet is definitely one of the most-watched fashion moments and we all remain glued to our televisions watching a-list stars in their gorgeous gown and stellar jewels.
With the 86th Annual Academy Awards concluding the first Sunday in March, we thought this would be the perfect time to highlight some of our favorite looks of the night.
The Big Winners
The star of the night was certainly Lupita Nyong’o! The newcomer and Best Supporting Actress winner wore a beautiful pastel blue dress by Prada, which the actress explained she selected because the blue reminded her of Nairobi, her hometown.
She also embraced the latest spring jewelry trend: gold. She wore an 18k yellow gold and diamond headband; a 19th century yellow gold and diamond coiled snake bracelet; 18k yellow gold and rose-cut diamond spiked crescent earrings; an 18k yellow gold frog ring; a 19th century yellow gold, pearl and diamond ring; a 19th century yellow gold and opal ring; and finally a 1960’s 18k gold, turquoise, and diamond ring. All the jewels were from Fred Leighton.
Her giant opal drops from Chopard were definitely the highlight, featuring 62 white opals (33 carats) set in white diamond pave and 18k white gold. She also donned a Chopard brown diamond bracelet (49 carats) set in 18k white gold and a pear-shape diamond ring (4 carats) set in 18k white gold.
Dripping in Diamonds
You can never go wrong with sparkling diamonds on the red carpets and these three actresses hit it out of the park with their statement pieces.
Angelina Jolie walked the red carpet wearing earrings weighing in at over 42 carats by jewelry designer Robert Procop! The star is currently working on her own jewelry line with Procop. In fact, her other half, Brad Pitt, wore buttons and cufflinks on his tux from Jolie’s new jewelry line, known as Jolie’s Style, during the Academy Awards.
The necklace of the evening was the $15 million Harry Winston Cluster Pendant worn by the stunning A-lister Charlize Theron. The feature stone is a 31-carat square-emerald-cut flawless diamond set in a cluster of diamonds. It totaled a whopping 155 diamonds.
Naomi Watts added a unique Bulgari spiderweb-like diamond necklace to her winter white embroidered Calvin Klein gown. She also wore a white gold and diamond bracelet, stud earrings and a Serpenti bracelet.
Hustling Up Some Color
Amy Adams embraced color at this year’s award show and was reported $1.4 million worth of jewelry from the Tiffany & Co. It included 18k yellow gold rhodochrosite, lapis and turquoise earrings with diamonds; 18k yellow gold square modified brilliant yellow diamond bracelet; 18k yellow gold ring with fire opal, pink sapphire, yellow diamond and spessertite garnet beads; and gold Tiffany Metro diamond band rings.
